Summary and Explanation

The PolyDetector Peroxidase Block is a peroxidase free solution used to block the endogenous peroxidase enzymes and transition metals that naturally occur in paraffin-embedded tissues, cryostat sections, blood smears, cytosmears, and cell preparations. Blocking endogenous peroxidase activity is a necessary step when performing immunohistochemistry and CISH applications utilizing a horseradish peroxidase enzyme (HRP) label. If this step is eliminated from the protocol, endogenous peroxidase enzymes or transition metals may cause the chromogen to precipitate, thereby causing background or nonspecific staining to occur. Using this reagent eliminates this possibility.

The PolyDetector Peroxidase Block is provided in liquid form ready-to-use. It contains a PBS buffer, reagents, stabilizers and sodium azide as anti-microbial.
